🫘 Traditional Red Bean Bowl Pudding (Makes 15 servings)


Ingredients:

  • Bowl Rice Pudding Premix (e.g., Lee Cheong Wo brand): 300g
  • White Sugar: 160g
  • Red Beans: 100g
  • Water: 375 ml + 525 ml

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the red beans thoroughly, then boil them in a pot for 60 minutes until soft.
  2. Prepare the premix in a bowl,  add water and stir until smooth.
  3. In a pot, combine water and sugar. Heat over medium heat until sugar dissolves and the mixture comes to a boil.
  4. Pour the hot sugar water into the batter and mix quickly. You may substitute slab sugar for white sugar if desired.
  5. Lightly oil small bowls. Steam them on high heat for about 5 minutes. Then add the red beans and pour in the batter until 80% full.
  6. Steam on high heat for about 15 minutes. Insert a bamboo skewer—if it comes out clean, it’s done.
  7. Let cool. Use a skewer to gently loosen the edge of the pudding from the bowl to remove and serve.
